Two dead, nine hurt in Baghdad blasts

BAGHDAD, Nov. 27 (UPI) --

Two people died and nine others were injured in two Baghdad blasts and a mass grave was found in Iraq's Diyala province, officials said Thursday.

The two explosions happened in Baghdad's eastern district Thursday, an unnamed police source told KUNA, the Kuwait news agency. In the first explosion, one person was killed and six were wounded in Maysalon Square.

The second blast in the city's Cairo district was aimed at a police patrol, leaving an Iraqi soldier dead and three others wounded.

Meanwhile, U.S. military officials said they discovered a mass grave in Diyala province, KUNA reported.

The 23 bodies appear to have been deceased for about a year-and-a-half, said a statement from the Multi-National Force. Local police will take custody of the remains and notify families for proper burial.
