Japan facing broccoli recall due to pins
TAKAMATSU, Japan, Nov. 27 (UPI) --
A Japanese manufacturer has ordered a full recall of a frozen broccoli product after two pins measuring more than an inch were found inside a product packet.
The food product company, Q.P. Corp., has voluntarily ordered a recall of recalled 65,160 packs of the frozen broccoli product to protect the public's safety, The Yomiuri Shimbun said Thursday.
The pins were found inside one of the packets Tuesday by workers in a primary school kitchen in the city of Takamatsu. No injuries were reported in relation to the discovery or the potentially contaminated products.
Another pin suspected of being the same type was found in a primary school's drain, the Shimbun said.
The discovery of the pins prompted authorities to contact 17 area schools and six centers that produce area school meals regarding the potentially dangerous Snowman Broccoli products.
