Russell T. Davies earns OBE title

LONDON, Nov. 28 (UPI) --

Russell T. Davies, the man responsible for bringing "Doctor Who" back to TV, has been given the title Officer of the British Empire by Prince Charles.

Davies -- the 45-year-old writer who had previously created the TV dramas "Queer as Folk" and "The Second Coming" -- revived the dormant "Doctor Who" series in 2005.

He chatted with Prince Charles for almost a minute after he was presented with his OBE title for services to drama at Buckingham Palace, the BBC said Friday.

Davies has said in the past the royal has turned down his offer to guest star on the iconic sci-fi series "Doctor Who."
