Report: Burress suffers gunshot wound
NEW YORK, Nov. 29 (UPI) --
New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress suffered an accidental gunshot wound at a club, the New York Daily News reported.
The newspaper reported being told by a source that the talented but controversial Burress accidentally shot himself in the leg.
Further details were sketchy, but the source told the newspaper that the 31-year-old Burress spent the night at a Manhattan hospital with an injury that was described only as non-life-threatening.
He was ruled out of Sunday's contest at Washington with a hamstring injury before Friday night's incident.
In four NFL seasons in New York after an outstanding college career at Michigan State, the Giants have fined him more than 30 times, including $204,000 this year.
Also, the NFL fined him $45,000 for verbally abusing an official.
The newspaper report said the Giants had no comment about his latest incident.
Burress is the Giants' leading receiver with four touchdowns after 35 catches for 454 yards in 12 games.
