Australia, Spain tied in Melbourne

MELBOURNE, Nov. 29 (UPI) --

Richard Green and Brendan Jones shot 9-under-par 63 Saturday in fourball competition to help Australia tie Spain for the lead at the World Cup of Golf.

The Spanish duo of Miguel Angel Jimenez and Pablo Larrazabal lost its second round lead despite shooting a respectable 5-under 67.

The teams are 22-under 194 through 54 holes at the Mission Hills Golf Club in Shenzhen, China.

Green birdied No. 14, but Jones rolled in a six-foot eagle putt at 15 to forge the tie.

It was a solid performance, Green said. Brendan was there when I needed him and I would like to think I was there for him. It was a good, solid day and we are right in contention.

Sweden's Robert Karlsson and Henrik Stenson shot 6-under 66 and are alone in third place at 18-under 198, with Germany's Alex Cejka and Martin Kaymer (68) in fourth at 17-under 199.
