NHL: Los Angeles 5, Chicago 2

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 29 (UPI) --

The Los Angeles Kings broke up a close contest with three third period goals Saturday in a 5-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks.

Chicago led 2-1 at the first intermission, but failed to beat LA goalie Erik Ersberg in the final 40 minutes.

Alexander Frolov's goal early in the second period created a 2-2 tie before Derek Armstrong (power play) and Patrick O'Sullivan 7 (empty net) (unassisted) all scored in the third period outburst.

Ersberg stopped 22-of-24 shots, eight in each period, in the Kings' second straight victory.

Chicago scored on first period goals by Patrick Sharp, Kyle Calder (power play) and Patrick Kane (power play) all found the back of the net.

Netminder Christobal Huet gave up four goals on 27 shots for the Blackhawks, who had scored 14 goals at the start of their six-game road trip.

On the power play, the Kings went 2-for-4, and the Blackhawks went 1-for-3.
