NBA: Houston 103, San Antonio 84

HOUSTON, Nov. 30 (UPI) --

With their five starters scoring in double figures Saturday, the Houston Rockets easily downed the San Antonio Spurs 103-84.

The win began with a 33-20 first period. The lead grew to as many as 19 points in the second period before the Spurs countered with an 18-6 run before halftime.

San Antonio came within 60-58 on a Roger Mason layup early in the third, but Houston closed on a 12-4 run to take a 84-70 lead into the fourth quarter.

From that point, Houston was home free.

Luther Head scored 21 points, Ron Artest 16, reserve Shane Battier 15, and Yao Ming and Rafer Alston 12 each as the Rockets won for the fourth time in their last five outings despite the absence of Tracy McGrady (knee) and Brent Barry (calf).

Tim Duncan and Matt Bonner scored 17 points apiece to lead San Antonio.

Tony Parker scored 15, and Manu Ginobili added 11 points for the Spurs, who had won four straight.
