Nigerian city of Jos quiet after riots
JOS, Nigeria, Nov. 30 (UPI) --
The Nigerian city of Jos was largely quiet Sunday following an outbreak of religious and ethnic clashes that relief agencies fear have left hundreds dead.
A Red Cross spokesman told the BBC Sunday that government troops were patrolling the streets amid sporadic gunfire.
The BBC said about 10 bodies had been seen in the streets but residents said the number was probably in the hundreds.
The clashes between Christian and Muslim residents began late Friday when accusations over state elections being allegedly fixed began flying.
