Divers search New Zealand plane's wreckage

French divers working to recover bodies from a downed New Zealand jet in the Mediterranean Sea said Monday they had yet to find its flight data recorder.

Seven people died when the Air New Zealand Airbus A320 plunged into the Mediterranean Friday four miles offshore from Canet, France, while on a test flight. Divers were working Monday to recover five remaining bodies and the airliner's flight data recorder, The Dominion Post reported.

Two unidentified bodies and a cockpit voice recorder have been recovered and the airliner's black box has been sent to Paris for analysis, the newspaper said.

Officials said despite good weather, the search effort was difficult because the craft's cockpit was submerged nearly 100 feet below the surface. Rescuers resumed the search Sunday night but weather conditions were expected to worsen heading into Tuesday, the newspaper said.
