FBI informant testifies in Fort Dix case

Three brothers charged with plotting to attack Fort Dix watched Internet videos of U.S. soldiers being killed, an FBI informant alleged Monday.

Besnik Bakalli, testifying at the brothers' trial, said he was recruited by the FBI to infiltrate the brothers' circle because they all were ethnic Albanian and spoke the same language, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported Monday.

Bakalli testified he was jailed and awaiting deportation in 2006 when he agreed to help the FBI because he thought the U.S. government might let him remain in the United States.

Bakalli said he then became friends with brothers Dritan, Eljvir and Shain Duka, who were arrested May 2007 for allegedly planning a jihad-inspired attack on the Fort Dix Army base in New Jersey.

Bakalli said he became scared of the brothers when, on a fishing trip with them, he was shown videos on a laptop computer of U.S. soldiers being killed in combat and their vehicles blown up, the Inquirer reported, noting the Dukas brothers have denied any wrongdoing.
