Police say teen swallowed stolen earrings

NAPLES, Fla., Dec. 1 (UPI) --

Police accuse a Florida teenager of stealing a pair of earrings from a JCPenney store and attempting to hide the evidence by swallowing it.

Investigators said William Colburn, 18, of Naples was taken into custody Saturday by store security officers and police later took him to NCH Downtown Naples Hospital, where the earrings were spotted in his stomach via an X-ray, the Naples Daily News reported Monday.

Store security officers also found a small amount of marijuana on the suspect while searching him for the earrings, police said.

Colburn was charged with retail theft, tampering with evidence and possession of marijuana.
