NHL: Nashville 2, Buffalo 0

BUFFALO, N.Y., Dec. 1 (UPI) --

Nashville scored twice in the third period Monday, providing all the offense Pekka Rinne needed to post his first career shutout, a 2-0 victory over Buffalo.

Rinne, who was a perfect 3-0-0 entering the game, stopped all 30 shots he faced. Jason Arnott and J.P. Dumont scored for the Predators, who have won three of their last five games.

Nashville had been outscored by a 15-6 margin by Buffalo in their last two meetings.

Ryan Miller made 25 saves for the Sabres, who have lost two in a row and were shut out at home for the second time in five games.
