Michael Phelps Getting Ready For Christmas
It comes as no surprise that his mother, Debbie, is at the top of his list.
The 23 year old American swimmer that was recently named as Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year said he plans on buying a car for his mom this year.
Phelps told Life & Style magazine, "She wants to get rid of her SUV and get a car."
Michael is being generous, too. When he was asked what kind of car he'll be buying her, he responded "A BMW or a Mercedes, whatever she wants."
Phelps didn't mention what he had in his Santa hat for his sisters, Whitney and Hilary.
Phelps attended the Golden Goggle awards in New York City the week before Thanksgiving. The event honors those that love to swim. Of 2008, Phelps said, "It was a pretty good year. Hopefully there's more to come."
Phelps won 8 Gold medals in the 2008 Beijing Olympics and holds a total of 14 Gold medals since he began competing in the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
