A gunman opened fire in a crowded lecture hall, causing injury to at least 15 victims. The NIU shooting claimed at least two lives. One was a victim and the other the gunman. "Campus police report that the immediate danger has passed. The gunman is no longer a threat," the school stated on their website.
All classes have been canceled for Thursday and Friday. The shooting happened around 3 p.m. in Cole Hall, which near the King Commons. It is a common area visited by many on campus. The following hotline numbers have been set up for anyone with any questions about the NIU shooting.
