Caylee Anthony Latest - Hope Fades As Remains Are Recovered
The sad story of little Caylee Anthony might soon have closure.
This morning a utility worker found a bag that contained the remains of what has been confirmed to be a small child. Although the forensics team hasn't confirmed that the remains belong to 2 year old Caylee Anthony, the body was recovered about a half mile away from Caylee's grandparents home.
Cindy and George Anthony, Casey Anthony's parents and Caylee's grandparents, appeared on Larry King Live last night and held out hope that their granddaughter was still alive, but today's discovery dims that chance.
Orange County Sheriff's spokesman Angelo Nieves said, "It would be premature to speculate. We're not going to release any more information at this time. We don't want to compromise the investigation."
Caylee Anthony went missing in June 2008, but her mother, 22 year old Casey Anthony, didn't alert officials until July 2008. She is the primary suspect in Caylee's disappearance and is currently incarcerated in connection with the crime.
Last week prosecutors in the case ruled out the death sentence for Casey, saying that it would be difficult to convince a jury to impose this sentence without physical evidence that Caylee was dead.
