Beef Recall

The largest beef recall in the history of the United States is underway. The beef recall involves a California slaughterhouse which has been ordered to recall 143 million pounds of beef.

Government inspections at the Hallmark/Westland Meat Packing Company in Chino, California showed that many animals were ill prior to being slaughtered.

This is a violation of Food Safety Inspection Service rules, and is why the recall has been ordered.

Food going back to February 2006 has been affected by the beef recall.

Despite the massive scale of the recall, no actual illnesses have been reported because of the beef.
