Time Person Of The Year - 2008
Time Magazine has named the Person Of The Year for 2008 and not surprisingly, it's President elect, Barack Obama.
"In one of the craziest elections in American history, he overcame a lack of experience, a funny name, two candidates who are political institutions and the racial divide to become the 44th president of the United States." Time magazine reported.
Barack Obama's voter drive helped bring millions of new voters to cast their ballot in the 2008 Presidential election. Obama is the first bi-racial man to be elected as President of the United States. Undoubtedly, he becomes a leader in interesting times. Economic problems continue to look bleak, as job losses and uncertainty widens domestically. Foreign affairs and terrorism are other issues that Barack Obama will have to concern himself with over the next four years.
Runners-up for Person of the Year were U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin and Chinese director Zhang Yimou.
