Two blasts kill 18 in Baghdad

BAGHDAD, Dec. 17 (UPI) --

A twin bombing in a commercial district of Baghdad Wednesday killed at least 18 people, including police officers, the Interior Ministry said.

The first explosion was a car bomb, followed by a roadside bomb that targeted emergency personnel and others who responded to the first blast, CNN reported.

The Interior Ministry official said three of the dead were police officers. Eight police officers were among the more than 50 people who were injured.
