Teenagers charged with killing friend
APEX, N.C., Dec. 21 (UPI) --
Police in Apex, N.C., allege four teenagers read a friend his fate in Tarot cards before beating and suffocating him.
The body of Matthew Silliman was found this month in a vacant mobile home owned by the parents of Allegra Dahlquist, 17, The (Raleigh, N.C.) News & Observer reported Sunday.
Dahlquist, Ryan Patrick Hare, 18, Aadil Khan, 17, and Drew Logan Shaw, 16, are charged with killing Silliman, The News & Observer reported. All four were listed as friends on Silliman's Facebook page, the newspaper said.
Police search warrants allege the four read Silliman his fate in Tarot cards before beating him with a hammer and wrapping duct tape around his face.
Dahlquist's lawyer, Joe Cheshire, called the killing "complex" and "intricate," The News & Observer reported Saturday. "I haven't made up in my own mind the relative responsibility of my own client," Cheshire said.
The teenagers, who have not spoken publicly, remain in the Wake County Jail.
