NHL: St. Louis 5, Columbus 2

ST. LOUIS, Jan. 3 (UPI) --

Alex Steen had a goal and two assists and Manny Legace stopped 20 shots for the St. Louis Blues Saturday night in a 5-2 win over Columbus.

Brandon Crombeen had a goal and an assist for St. Louis, which also got goals from Brad Winchester, Keith Tkachuk and T.J. Oshie in its first win following three straight losses.

Mike Commodore and Fredrik Modin scored a goal apiece and Steve Mason allowed five goals on 27 shots for the Blue Jackets, who had a four-game win streak snapped.

Winchester opened the scoring at 2:10 of the first with a power-play goal and Crombeen put the Blues up 2-0 with a shorthanded goal 3 ½ minutes later. Commodore cut the lead to 2-1 at 7:03 of the first and Modin knotted it up at 2-2 when he scored at 12:20 of the first.

Tkachuk scored what turned out to be the decisive goal with a power-play score at 6:39 of the second period.
