Ben Affleck Supports The Troops

BAGHDAD, Iraq, Jan. 4 (TOTI) --

Ben Affleck is not the type of guy your read about in the tabloids much. He's one serious actor and director, and he's currently spending his free time in a way that other celebrities aren't.

Affleck is a volunteer for Operation Gratitude, a service started in 2003 to send care packages to US troops stationed oversees.

"Obviously, the servicemen and women there are doing incredibly difficult and extraordinary jobs," he told In Touch.

He helps stuff the boxes and fill out customs forms for the organization.

"This is a gesture that could say in a tangible way 'We support the troops.' You hear that a lot, but this is something that comes from regular citizens."
