NHL: Calgary 5, N.Y. Islanders 2

CALGARY, Alberta, Jan. 9 (UPI) --

Daymond Langkow scored the go-ahead goal and added two assists Thursday, lifting the Calgary Flames to a 5-2 victory over the New York Islanders.

It was the Flames' first win over the Islanders since January 2004, and the 14th consecutive road loss for the Islanders -- one short of the team record set 36 years ago. New York's next road game is Jan. 29 at Atlanta.

Calgary won for the seventh time in eight games, getting 24 saves from Miikka Kiprusoff.

The Islanders rallied from a two-goal deficit, but Langkow gave Calgary the lead for good with 3:02 to play in the second period on a slapshot that got the best of Joey MacDonald.

MacDonald allowed five goals on 41 shots while filling in for the injured Rick DiPietro.
