Kevin Ray Underwood murdered Jamie Rose Bolin
Kevin Ray Underwood, 28, faces the death penalty for his murder of 10 year old Jamie Rose Bolin.
In April of 2006, Kevin Ray Underwood lured Jamie Rose Bolin to his apartment. He suddenly hit the girl with wooden cutting board while she was watching TV and playing with his pet rat.
Bolin responded when asked what the girl said to him after he hit her.
"That's something that's haunted me forever since it happened," he said. "She started yelling, I'm sorry,' which I'm like, What is she sorry for? She didn't do anything wrong. It's me. I'm the one that should be sorry.'"
Bolin explained that it wasn't easy for him to continue to strike the child. "I was sick to my stomach that I was doing this," he said. "I was literally, physically sick."
Kevin Ray Underwood also had sex with the girl's lifeless body once he killed her.
"It started off as cannibalism ... I wanted to know what it tasted like, and just the thought of eating someone was appealing to me," Underwood confessed.
"I had pretty much planned all along to probably get a kid, just mainly because they'd be easier to grab and easier to get rid of afterwards, smaller, and you know, put up less of a fight," he continued.
His attorneys have not presented a defense in his case. They intend to argue at his sentencing that he doesn't deserve to die.
