SALT LAKE CITY, Jan. 18 (UPI) --
The Utah Jazz said Sunday Coach Jerry Sloan has agreed to a one-year contract extension that will keep him at the controls for a 22nd season next year.
Sloan is the longest-tenured coach ever in the NBA. Since he took over the Jazz Dec. 9, 1988, his teams have compiled an overall record of 1,019-613. Although they have never won an NBA title, they have been to the NBA Finals twice and have won their division seven times.
The Jazz are 24-17 this season.
"We appreciate Jerry's continued commitment to our organization," Jazz President Randy Rigby said. "His coaching style, approach to the game and values portray everything we could ever look for in a coach."
