Paris Hilton Would Do Almost Anything To Stay Out Of Jail

I know that Paris is trying to tell us all something different now, but it seems pretty clear to me that she's looking to stay out of jail at nearly all costs. And it makes sense, really. The girl is a powder puff socialite. She won't last five minutes in prison without security.

Now Paris is contrite and changing her tune. This comes after she dumped her publicist and re-hired him. Elliot Mintz and her seemed to have their signals crossed, and there was some sort of short-lived anti-mony about who's fault it really was that Paris violated her parole.

Let's look at the timeline.

  • Paris arrives 10 minutes late to court.
  • Mintz foolishly attempts to accept blame for her mis-doing
  • Paris is convicted of DUI and expresses shout
  • Nationwide people begin celebrating
  • May 6th Fires Mintz
  • May 8th - Mintz is already back, or never let go, depending on who you listen too.

We know a few things about Paris' life skills

And it doesn't seem possible the girl could survive in the suburbs, let alone in jail. She knows it, her handlers know it, and all the celebrity watches in the world know it. She's afraid that she'll look bad in front of the whole world, which she already has. For Paris, there's almost no way to come out of this mess in good shape. And she's certainly not into soul-searching at this point, wondering what brought her to this point in her life.

What can we expect from Paris Hilton now?

Now I think we'll see Paris intensify her efforts at using public relations and family connections to keep her out of jail. In the last few days alone we've seen:

Today she issued the following statement:

"After reading the media's coverage of my court hearing, I feel the need to correct what I believe are misperceptions about me. I absolutely realize how serious driving under the influence is. I could not live with myself if anyone was injured or killed while I was driving while impaired. Clearly, no one should -- no matter how slightly. I am ready to face the consequences of violating probation. No one is above the law. I surely am not. I do not expect to be treated better than anyone else who violated probation. However, my hope is that I will not be treated worse."

This just shows us how worried she really is, after all. She's finally willing to act like one of us little people and half-way admit she might be wrong. But it might already be too late.

What do you think should happen to Paris Hilton?
