She died in East Alabama Medical Center from a gunshot wound. Lauren Burk hailed from Marietta, Georgia, and was a freshman at Auburn. She was a pledge of the Delta Gamma Sorority at the time of her murder. The University has stated that they feel the campus is safe, but they are certainly urging precautions for students while the killer is at large. The police have beefed up security on the campus. The murder is thought to have occurred near, but not on, campus. The police have not issued a suspected motive yet for the crime.Lauren Burk
