One of Charles Manson's old haunts, called Barker Ranch, is being searched to find remains of missing hitchhikers and other loners. Barker Ranch is located in California's Death Valley and was used by Manson and his cult after killing Sharon Tate and her unborn baby. She was 8 1/2 months pregnant.

This time the search for human remains is high tech. Forensic scientists used ground penetrating radar and search dogs to look for possible graves. Buster, a search dog, was the first to recognize a possible grave - a depression in the ground. A former prospector named Ememtt Harder also assisted in the search.

In 1969, Manson family member Susan Atkins told a cell mate that there were "three people out in the desert that they done in." Since prosecution couldn't convict unproven murders, the Manson Family wasn't charged with these crimes. Almost 40 years later, if remains are found, technology can turn back the clocks.

The Manson Family stayed at Barker Ranch until they were arrested. All members of the cult remain in prison.
