Heart to McCain: Stop using our music

LEBANON, Ohio, Sept. 10 (UPI) --

Heart says John McCain and Sarah Palin's campaign is using its song "Barracuda" at rallies after the U.S. rock band asked them to stop.

CNN said the band requested McCain's Republican presidential campaign cease using Heart's 1977 hit after it was played last week at the Republican National Convention in honor of vice presidential nominee Palin, who reportedly was known as "Sarah Barracuda" when she was a high school basketball player in Alaska.

Despite the band's request, however, the song was played Tuesday at a Republican rally in Ohio, CNN said.

"Sarah Palin's views and values in no way represent us as American women," Heart members Ann and Nancy Wilson told Entertainment Weekly. "We ask that our song 'Barracuda' no longer be used to promote her image."

However, McCain's campaign representatives told CNN it secured all necessary licenses before using the song.
