Samuel Adams Utopias is one expensive beer

Sam Adams Utopias is one serious beer, weighing at a whopping 26% alcohol by volume. Considering mainstream beers are in the 7% range, Utopias packs a huge wallop.

Jim Koch, the founder of Sam Adams thinks his company is setting a trend with the beer.

"One hundred years from now people will be making their own version of Utopias," Koch said. "The fundamental characteristics are different; it's an entirely new form of beer. The alcohol becomes a significant flavor component, and you're painting with a different palette."

Be prepared to pay for Utopias. The cost is $140 for 24 ounces. It is generally considered to be the world's most expensive beer.
