LOS ANGELES, Feb. 10 (UPI) --
Recording artist Rihanna has postponed Friday's sold-out concert in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, representatives for Pineapple Concerts said.
Word of the cancellation came the day after the 20-year-old singer was reportedly hurt during an argument with her 19-year-old boyfriend, singer Chris Brown, in a car in Los Angeles. Brown has been arrested, booked for suspicion of making criminal threats and released on $50,000 bail. His arraignment is scheduled for next month.
"In light of recent events involving Rihanna, (William Morris Agency) will confirm within two weeks from now on a replacement date to be mutually agreed" upon by the concert organizer and the singer's representatives, Pineapple Managing Director Razman Razali said in a statement issued to E! News. "We sincerely regret this unavoidable shift in schedule and apologize to the fans for any inconvenience caused."
TMZ quoted an unnamed law-enforcement source as saying the injuries Rihanna sustained during the alleged altercation early Sunday morning were "horrific."
Police responded to a 911 call and found Rihanna had major contusions on both sides of her face, a split lip and a bloody nose, TMZ said, adding the singer also had bite marks on one of her arms and on several fingers. Brown reportedly had left the scene by the time police arrived. TMZ said someone who heard Rihanna's screams had placed the 911 call.
E! News said Rihanna was treated for her injuries and subsequently released from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
