Dad calls Chris Brown remorseful

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 13 (UPI) --

Corrections officer Clinton Brown says his 19-year-old son, singer Chris Brown, is remorseful about an alleged incident involving his girlfriend Rihanna.

Chris Brown is under investigation for allegedly assaulting Rihanna, 20, early Sunday morning. He was arrested and charged with threatening her, but authorities have said more charges may follow as they continue their investigation.

Chris Brown was released after posting $50,000 bail Sunday night and is scheduled to be arraigned next month. Neither he nor his representatives have commented publicly on the alleged altercation that reportedly left the young woman battered and bruised, and led both Brown and Rihanna to skip Sunday's Grammy Awards ceremony.

"He's reflecting on this situation," Clinton Brown told People magazine. "He's very remorseful. He's very concerned about the situation and he wants to make sure that (Rihanna's) okay. This is unfortunate, this stumble, this situation. Hopefully, he will get past it. We all have our shortcomings. We all trip."

The elder Brown said there are "two sides to every story."

"Just because someone trips, if you are truly a fan, you are not going to demonize him instantaneously," Clinton Brown said.

He described his son as a "lovable young man" and "a good person," and said he hopes his son will learn and grow in light of this recent experience.

"As a father, I couldn't be more proud," Clinton Brown said. "He's the light of my life."
