Mechele Linehan gets a 99 year sentence

Mechele Linehan has been sentenced to 99 years in prison for her part in a murder for hire scheme. The former stripper from Alaska was sentenced today in a scheme that targeted an ex-fiance's insurance money.

Judge Volland, who presided over her case called her a cold-hearted killer who committed a "heinous crime."

"In my mind I can find no principled distinction between the puppet who pulls the trigger and the puppeteer who pulls the strings," Volland said of Linehan's role in the murder. "And in my judgment, Ms. Linehan was the puppeteer who pulled the strings."

Linehan had been found guilty of the murder in 2007.
