A Half A Dozen Inexpensive Ways To Give Your Home A Facelift

A Half A Dozen Inexpensive Ways To Give Your Home A Facelift.

Are you looking to change the look and feel of your home but not looking to spend a small fortune doing it? Here are 6 inexpensive ways to give your home a "facelift" of sorts without spending a lot of cash.

  • Paint. Not only does a fresh coat of paint give a home a "new" smell, it's an inexpensive way to give a room a new look. To add depth or creativity, consider sponge painting, stenciling or using borders to accent.
  • Use Couch Covers. I'm not talking the sticky, icky plastic kind. Many retailers now offer couch and seat covers that instantly change the landscape of your living room. From funky florals to stylish solids, your old boring old furniture can be turned (somewhat) new again.
  • Replace Your Window Coverings. If you've had the same curtains for a while, change the way you view your world by replacing your window coverings. Try valances, shades, sheers, or decorative rods to give your home a different look and feel.
  • Change Your Bathroom. Change your bathroom by switching your shower curtain, your floor coverings and your towels. Choose a bathroom theme that you like and have fun! Many popular bathroom themes include fish, dolphins, or wild neon colors. Remember that a cheery bathroom is a nice thing to have first thing in the morning, so spread a little sunshine.
  • Landscape. Plant flowers or other foliage around your home. Be sure that you check that the plants will prosper in the places you want to plant them. For instance, if a plant says it requires "full sun" don't plant it in a mostly shady area and expect it to survive. Garden plants can be found at Wal-Marts and private garden centers everywhere.
  • Rugging. Change the way a room looks by adding decorative rugging. Choose runners, round or square rugs to change your rooms look and feel.

Our homes are an extension of our personalities and they can be as unique and funky as we are. Why are you waiting to start defining your home? I hope these 6 suggestions help you recreate your living space without taking too much change out of your pocket!
