Robert Pattinson has reached the stratosphere of Hollywood success based on his role as Edward Cullen in Twilight. Now some of that attention will be shifting to Taylor Lautner, who has an expanded role in New Moon. Life and Style recently caught up with Pattinson and got some of his views on Twilight.

"I'm happy to be back," he said upon his return to LA. "I was never expecting all of this – it's a trip."

Rob will be receiving much less on-screen time in New Moon. The story is centered on Bella Swan becoming friends with Jacob Black.

"I've got two scenes," Rob said.

Team Taylor is set to take over the spotlight, according to young Lautner.

"I wanted to get Twilight over with, let Edward have his time with Bella and get moving with New Moon," say Taylor. "It's about time Jacob got in there."

Taylor didn't get to show much acting prowess with his tiny role in Twilight, but that's about to change in the sequel.

"The part is more in-depth in the rest of the series," he said. "When Jacob turns into a werewolf, it's like he has another personality. He's super intense."

Even though he'll be spending less time working on New Moon, Robert still has plenty on his plate. Fans will get to listen to new music by Rob on the 'How To Be' soundtrack, which will be released soon and he plays the part of a young Salvador Dali in Little Ashes.

If Rob isn't careful, though, Lautner is gunning to take his fame and forever transform the Twilight series into his personal star vehicle.

Rachelle LeFevre, who plays Victoria, thinks Taylor will bring something special to New Moon.

"Taylor's very serious about forming a connection with Kristen," she said. "He'll make sure his relationship with her is just as intense and has just as much chemistry as Rob's. I think Rob should watch out!"

The sophisticated London native Robert Pattinson is very different in character from the laid back and friendly Grand Rapids, Michigan native Taylor Lautner. Lautner says the difference will come across in the movie.

"Jacob's very friendly and outgoing, and he loves people," says Taylor. "I'm pretty similar to that side of him."

In another sign of the devotion that Taylor is bringing to the role, he's gained 30 pounds of muscle working out. He didn't use a magic formula to pack on the weight gain.

"I worked out like a fiend, six to seven days a week for two hours a day," he said.

Pattinson is not known for his love of exercise, but even he was spotted leaving a gym on Feb. 20. This makes one wonder if he's suddenly realizing there's a competition between him and Lautner. When it comes to athletics, Robert and Taylor are as different as a vampire and a werewolf.

"I always used to play sports," said Taylor. "I played football, baseball, basketball, and soccer."

Robert's sports resume is much shorter.

"I'm terrible at every sport except running," Rob stated.

If nothing else, New Moon promises to be quite a contrast from Twilight just because the relationship with Bella will be so different. Robert Pattinson or Taylor Lautner, you can't really lose with either of these guys in the lead.
