Tomato Salmonella

The FDA warns about red round tomatoes

The tomato salmonella outbreak seems to be worsening. The FDA has provided an extensive information on the Salmonellosis outbreak. You won't find tomatoes at many major restaurants today, including McDonald's, as the current outbreak has caused over 145 people to become sick nationwide.

The Center for Disease Control is warning that you should not eat roma and red round tomatoes.

Right now authorities are attempting to locate the origin of the bad tomatoes, in order to minimize the impact to consumers and businesses. The strain is Salmonella St. Paul, which is considered fairly rare. I know I went to Chipotle's and couldn't get tomatoes and the same thing happened at Panera's. Looks like this tomato salmonella outbreak is quite serious.
