BERKELEY, Calif., March 31 (UPI) --
Jayne Appel scored 46 points Monday to lead Stanford in a 74-53 rout over Iowa State in the NCAA Women's Berkeley (Calif.) Regional final.
The 46-point total was a school record for Appel, who was named MVP of the regional tournament and led the second-seeded Cardinal (33-4) to their 20th straight win -- and into the Final Four in St. Louis Sunday against the winner of Tuesday's game between Connecticut and Arizona State.
Appel shot 19-of-28 from the floor and finished with 16 rebounds, three blocked shots and two assists. Jeanette Pohlan had eight points and 10 rebounds and Stanford outrebounded Iowa State 47-18.
Amanda Nisleit scored 17 points for the fourth-seeded Cyclones.
