Daren Kagasoff Talks About His Character - Ricky Underwood
HOLLYWOOD, Ca., Apr.4 (TOTI) --
Daren Kagasoff might have an easy time being cool in his role as Ricky Underwood on the ABC series The Secret Life Of The American Teenager, but in real life his teenage years were quite different.
The 21 year old actor told M magazine, "I was definitely not as smooth or popular as Ricky. I was just a regular guy. In class, I remember being too nervous to raise my hand or have the whole class look at me - I hated when the attention was on me!"
In fact, he confessed that he was so shy he didn't even ask girls out. He confessed, "I never asked a girl out in high school because I was really shy and got way too nervous around them. It was bad."
Now that he's a little older and gained some confidence after being involved in sports, he has an idea of what he's looking for in a girlfriend. "I want a super-sweet and fun girl who I can have a good conversation with."
Being able to get along is crucial to Daren. "It's really important for me to click with a girl from the beginning."
He knows that finding the right person could take some time, but that doesn't deter him from believing he'll find the right girl. "There's plenty of fish in the sea, I'm sure I'll find her one day."
ABC confirmed a 24 episode second season of Secret Life in February. The season premier is tentatively scheduled in June, 2009.
The Secret Life Of Teenagers also stars Molly Ringwald, Shailene Woodley and Kenny Baumann.
