Olympic Torch Reaches Tibet
The Olympic Torch makes it way through Tibet without incident
The issue of the Olympics has been a touchy one in Tibet; folks in some circles were worried about what would happen when the Olympic torch made it's way through the country, due to the memory of recent violent protests by Tibetans against the Chinese government.
The torch relay went along a 5.8 mile route from Norbulingka, which used to be known as the Dalai Lama's Summer Palace, to the Potala Palace, which used to be his chief residence.
No violent activity occurred.
One reason that the ceremony went off without a hitch is its' brevity. What was originally scheduled to be a two day affair turned into a short two hour event.
