A new L.A. Times reports says Obama has 12 point lead over McCain
Barack Obama has opened a large lead over rival John McCain, according to a new poll.
Of course the key issues are the war in Iraq, as well as the stumbling economy. Obama has promised to make major changes in how Washington runs, and that message is resonating with voters, at least in the early part of the election.

The LA Times poll shows McCain leading by a 12 point margin.
"Buoyed by enthusiasm among Democrats and public concern over the economy, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., has taken a sizable lead over Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., at the opening of the general election campaign for president, a Los Angeles Times/Bloomberg poll has found. In a two-man race between the major-party candidates, registered voters chose Obama over McCain by 49% to 37% in the national poll, conducted Thursday through Monday." The survey of 1,115 registered voters has a margin of error on each result of +/- 3 percentage points.
Right now it appears that Obama is in the driver's seat.
