John McCain is happy about a new Supreme Court ruling that upholds the 2nd Amendment
John McCain signed an Amicus (friend-of-the-court) brief in the case, indicating that he supported the case, which was brought by security guard Dick Heller.
"Today’s ruling in District of Columbia v. Heller makes clear that other municipalities like Chicago that have banned handguns have infringed on the constitutional rights of Americans," said John McCain. "Unlike the elitist view that believes Americans cling to guns out of bitterness, today’s ruling recognizes that gun ownership is a fundamental right -- sacred, just as the right to free speech and assembly."
Of course the comment about "elitists" was aimed directly at rival Barack Obama, who did not sign an Amicus Curiae brief. The win today is seen as a big one for supporters of gun owner's rights.
