American Olympic swimmers Katie Hoff and Michael Phelps broke records at the Olympic swimming trials.

Katie Hoff finished the 400-meter individual medley in 4 minutes; 31.12 seconds.

Michael Phelps finished the 400-meter IM in 4 minutes 5.25 seconds.

Bob Bowman, Phelps coach sais "He looked great, and what an epic swim. One of the best swims I've ever seen."

Phelps holds a number of Olympic medals, including six gold and two bronze medals from the 2004 Olympics that took place in Athens. Phelps celebrates his 23rd birthday today.
