Tyson Gay sets wind-assisted record in 100 meter sprint
Tyson Gay has run the 100 meter faster than any human in history, but judges won't let the record stand because his feat was "wind-assisted."
Gay ran the 100 in a blistering 9.68 seconds.
Wind assisted records are not kept. In order for a record to not be kept, the tailwind must not exceed 2.0 meters per second. Gay's time was run in a tailwind of 4.1 meters per second.
Still, Gay was rightfully proud of his accomplishment.
"I didn’t really care what the wind was," said Gay. "I’m glad my body could do it. Now I know I have it in me."
