Salmonella Outbreak May NOT Be Linked To Tomatoes

Tomatoes may not be the bad guy after all

A new development in the case of Salmonella that was thought to have been caused by bad tomatoes. Now it turns out that tomatoes may not be the culprit. Tomato farmers have lost an estimated $250,000,000 due to worries about tomatoes.

In this video segment, the guest Jean Holleran says the problem could be solved with simple tracking. The origin of food isn't always clear, and this causes confusion when determining the cause of an outbreak.

The outbreak may have been caused by cilantro, but finding the culprit without a bar code will make the job difficult. Could be time for an investment of technology that could certify food origin.
