Parking fine waived for one-legged driver

CLAYTON, England, Sept. 27 (UPI) --

A one-legged driver in England is off the hook for a $550 fine after illegally parking in a space reserved for people with disabilities.

Amanda Watson, 31, of Clayton, who was eligible for a disabled parking placard but had failed to get one, was ticketed by a parking official who didn't notice she was wearing a prosthetic leg, The Daily Telegraph reported Saturday.

When she appeared in Manchester Magistrates' Court, however, she came without her artificial limb and showed the judge the disabled parking permit she obtained after being cited.

The court waived the roughly $550 fine against her.
