DETROIT, Sept. 28 (UPI) --
Ben Zobrist homered in the top of the 11th inning Sunday and Tampa Bay held on to edge the Detroit Tigers 8-7.
The Tigers have one more game to play, a makeup contest Monday in Chicago against the White Sox, who still have a chance to make the playoffs. The American League East-champion Rays' regular season is over.
Eric Hinske had a two-run home run and three RBI, and Jonny Gomes drove in two runs for Tampa Bay.
Edwin Jackson was the winning pitcher, giving up two runs and four hits in two innings.
Curtis Granderson hit a three-run homer and Magglio Ordonez had a two-run shot for Detroit.
Losing pitcher Chris Lambert (1-2) allowed a run and three hits in two innings.
