Ochoa bags seventh title of year

PRATTVILLE, Ala., Sept. 28 (UPI) --

Lorena Ochoa defeated Cristie Kerr and Candie Kung in a two-hole playoff to win the Navistar LPGA Classic in Alabama Sunday, her seventh victory of the year.

Ochoa won with pars on both extra holes. Kerr dropped out with a bogey on the first extra hole and Kung followed with a bogey on the second.

The three players had tied at 15-under-par 273 after Kerr fired a 6-under-par 66, Kung 67 and the world No. 1 Ochoa 70 in the final round.

"It wasn't easy," Ochoa said. "If you (looked) at the leaderboard, a lot of players were up there one and two shots behind. I'm happy that I won the playoff because I need to improve my playoff results."

Ochoa is 2-5 in playoffs.

Shanshan Feng (66) and Song-Hee Kim (69) tied for fourth place at 14-under 274. Louise Friberg (72) shared sixth place at 275 with four other players.
