CASTRIES, Saint Lucia, May 9 (UPI) --
Amy Winehouse's comeback concert at the St. Lucia Jazz Festival was thwarted by heavy rain and technical glitches, her spokesman said.
"Circumstances beyond anyone's control meant that this special show did not go as planned," the spokesman told the BBC Saturday.
Winehouse, 25, who had not performed in months, cut short Friday night's concert after apparently forgetting the words to a song and telling the crowd, "Sorry, I'm bored." One local resident, identified only as Ben, described Winehouse's singing as "painful" and her talent "wasted," the BBC reported.
Shortly after Winehouse started her set, heavy rain set in and technical difficulties occurred, including the failure of speakers and a lighting rig, her spokesman said.
Winehouse, whose struggle with alcohol and drugs has been widely documented, is recording new songs in a studio on the island, her spokesman said.
