New Search For Steve Fossett Launched

A new search team has been assembled to find Steven Fossett's wreckage.

Nobody knew that when millionaire Steven Fossett set out in a solo flight from Barron Hilton's Nevada ranch they'd never see him again.

Steven Fossett, a known adventurer was reported missing after he failed to return on September 3, 2007. He was declared legally dead on February 15, 2008 after searchers were unable to find his plane or his remains.

Simon Donato, a geologist and racer has assembled a new search team to find what the first searchers didn't - Fossett's wrecked plane. His team consists of athletes and mountaineers that will search parts of the Sierra about 100 miles south of Reno, Nevada where Fossett was last seen. The location is also close to Hilton's ranch.

The area the team is searching is very rugged and it's taken decades to find planes and people that have crashed there.

Donato says that no matter what happens, his search won't be in vain. He said "Whether we find the wreckage or not, at least our tracks will be preserved so that in the future if someone wants to give this a try they'll know where we already were and they can go to the next mountain range over."

Fossett was 63 at the time of his disappearance.
