Chace Crawford Confirmed For Footloose - Zac Efron Explains Why He Boogied
It's been 25 years since Kevin Bacon starred in the hit movie Footloose and now that it's a new century, the film is being remade for a new generation.
Gossip Girl star, Chace Crawford has been selected to fill the shoes of Ren McCormack, a city boy that's forced to move to a small, religious town that frowns on rock music and dancing.
When talks of the movie remake first surfaced, Zac Efron was a major contender for the role but turned the opportunity down. The High School Musical star told M magazine, "There were a million things that went into my decision. It was difficult, but I was just looking for a change."
Efron continued, "Something I'm working on now is a movie called The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud. And as for Hairspray 2, you know as much about it as me."
Footloose is currently in pre-production and is expected to have a 2010 release date.
