Dark Knight Premiere - Pictures

The premiere of Dark Knight took place last night in New York City.

Dark Knight, which stars the late Heath Ledger as The Joker drew crowds at the New York film premiere. His family, including father Kim and stepmother Ines, his mother Sally Bell and her husband and older sister Kate were all in attendance to watch the last performance of their beloved son and brother.

Heath's father said the film was "very good" and gave a thumbs up for Heath's performance. Heath's family didn't walk the red carpet, but slipped inside the theater quietly to watch him play the role of an always smiling, always sinister Joker.

The Dark Knight is a sequel to Batman Begins and is expected to smash the box office when it hits theaters on July 18, 2008. Many theaters are offering midnight debuts with additional screenings at 3 and 6 AM to cater to anxious fans.
